The San Joaquins service is undergoing an exciting transformation in its Food Service program to offer a more consistent and cost-effective experience for all riders. Starting May 5, 2025, complimentary food service will be available on all trains, both the single-level Venture Cars as well as the bi-level California Cars, ensuring equitable service across the board.

As the managing agency for the service, the San Joaquins Joint Powers Authority (SJJPA) is responsible for delivering a service that is consistent, safe, and continues to elevate the passenger experience for our vast community of riders throughout California. To uphold this commitment and sustain a food and beverage program, SJJPA must find ways to overcome escalting inflationary costs that are impacting all aspects of the service--thus the redesign of this amenity, which will yield cost-savings for the service.

The long-term vision includes a balanced mix of vending, onboard sales, and limited complimentary options to maintain a high-quality yet financially sustainable service. As these changes roll out, SJJPA remains committed to listening to rider feedback and evolving the program to meet passenger needs and budget realities.
