It's the perfect weather for farmer's markets, festivals, and having brunch outside in the sun-and there's still time to squeeze in a spring trip to do it all! Now through April 29th, students can still save 30% on tickets to over 100 destinations, whether it's to catch a wave in LA, catch a view in Yosemite or catch a trolley car in  San Francisco. Saving on travel means more money to spend on chic hotels, tickets to events, or trying new restaurants. 

 

If you're looking for things to do during your spring vacation, here's what's happening in popular destinations along the Amtrak San Joaquins route.

Fresno

Vineyard Farmers Market

100 W Shaw Ave, Fresno, CA 93704 | Saturday, April 23, 2022 | 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM PDT

Every Wednesday and Saturday, people flock to this farmers market for the freshest produce and locally-grown fruits and vegetables, direct from the growers! The market is located in a beautiful structure designed by Christopher Alexander, Professor Emeritus of Architecture at UC Berkeley, and made of redwood arched trusses and concrete columns. A floor of gray concrete with blue concrete ornaments, let into the slab, forms an endless pattern. See for yourself!

NoLove Live Arts and Music Fest

Clay Hand Studios, 660 Van Ness Ave, Fresno | Saturday, April 23, 2022 | 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Come celebrate the incredible art and work going on throughout the Fresno Art scene. This event is intended to shine a spotlight on the artistic and creative communities throughout Fresno County. Directions: Riders who arrive at the Amtrak Fresno Station can take a quick 13-minute walk by turning left onto Sante Fe Street, taking a right on Inyo Street, taking a turn left toward Mono Street, and finally turning a right onto Mono Street. where the destination will be on the right. If you prefer rideshare, the Clay Hands Studio is a quick 3-minute Lyft or Uber ride from the Fresno Amtrak Station. 

sacramento

Sacramento Earth Day Festival

Southside Park, 2115 6th Street, Sacramento | Sunday, April 24 | 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM PDT

Find ways to help the residents and community of the Greater Sacramento region and reduce your ecological footprint by celebrating Earth Day. Come down to Southside Park and enjoy a variety of activities, including interactive educational games, extensive displays, live music, and delicious plant-based/vegan food options. Loud Festival

Cesar Chavez Plaza, 910 I Street, Sacramento | Friday, April 22 - Sunday, April 24, 2022 | 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM PDT

Loud Fest is coming to Cesar Chavez Plaza! The festival will last three days and include local, regional, and national acts. Come enjoy live music, comedians, food, and on-air personalities from local radio station 102.5 KSFM. Directions: Once riders arrive at the Sacramento Station they can head east toward I Street, and take a left leaving the station. Cesar Chavez Plaza is a quick 9-minute walk down I street and will be located on the right-hand side between 9th and 10th streets. 

Sacramento Autorama

Cal Expo Race Track, 1600 Exposition Blvd., Sacramento, CA, 95815 | Friday, April 29 - Sunday, May 1, 2022 | 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM PDT

In its 71st year, the Sacramento Autorama returned to Cal Expo. Over 500 vehicles will be showcased and compete for awards. The Lowrider Showcase room is making its 5th appearance and will have over 250 custom-made Lowriders, bicycles, and motorcycles being featured. Come see what car clubs & culture built and the lifestyle that made auto shows what they are today!  Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 6 to 12. Stockton Earth Day Festival

Motown Fry Fest

Social and philanthropic organization  Omega Nu presents the Modesto Fry Fest! Experience the creativity of local chefs as they put their culinary skills to the test with loaded fries. Hosted by Omega Nu, this savory event will have you begging for me. Enjoy from the sweet to the savory with so many combinations in between! Enjoy live music, drinks, a kid's play area, and a maker's bazaar. With this celebration of creativity and fries, there is something for everyone to enjoy at the Motown Fry Fest. Oakland

Spring Garden Tour

Oakland, CA | Sunday, April 24 | 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM PDT

Watch the Spring season bloom into action at the Spring Garden Tour presented by the Hillside Gardeners of Montclair. Get a spectacular tour of seven gardens showcasing stunning views, garden art, and rare plants! There will be a pop-up garden gift store, refreshments, and a free raffle entry for ticket holders to win valuable prizes. Attendees are recommended to wear a hat & sunscreen and bring a water bottle.

 

This event will be held on Sunday, April 24 from 11 AM to 5 PM. Attendees aged 12+ must purchase a $30 ticket online. All proceeds benefit local horticultural students and conservation groups!

Celebrate Earth Day At The Greenway Gardens

Celebrate Earth Day at the Greenway Gardens. Come together with other community members to keep Richmond parks and gardens beautiful while participating in a variety of fun activities! Directions: This event is free and will be held on April 23rd from 10 AM to 2 PM. From Amtrak Richmond Station, walk four blocks down 16th Street to reach the Unity Park Community Plaza where the event will take place.

The 13th Annual Food and Wine Event

Contra Costa College,2600 Mission Bell Drive, San Pablo| Saturday, April 23, 2022 | 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM PDT

Bring your taste buds to the 13th Annual Food and Wine Event held by the Culinary Academy Department at Contra Costa College. Come and sample delicious food and beverages from over 40 participating Bay Area restaurants and wineries. Attendees must purchase a $40 ticket to attend the event online. Donations raised will benefit Culinary Academy Students with new opportunities that will benefit their education, training, and employment potential.

 

Directions: This event will be held on Sunday, April 24th from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM at Contra Costa College. From Amtrak Richmond Station walk to the bus stop to catch line 74 which will take you directly to Contra Costa College.
