St. Patrick's Day has been a holiday observed by the Irish and others for more than 1,000 years. Normally the holiday is celebrated with parades, dancing, traditional food, and a slew of fun activities. St. Patrick's day in 2021 will look a bit different but many local communities and restaurants near Amtrak San Joaquin stations are still finding safe ways to celebrate. Traditional St. Patrick's Day foods include corn beef and cabbage, Irish soda bread, and champ. Find your local St. Patrick's Day activity near one of our stations!

Bay Area

- Sláinte Oakland's St. Patrick's Day Block Party
  Enjoy a full day of live music, Irish dancing, face-painting, games, and plenty of good craic at Sláinte Oakland's St. Patrick's Day Block Party! Celebrate the holiday in the heart of Jack London Square with authentic Irish food, music and drink specials in a socially distanced fashion.

- Fort Mason (S.F.) St. Paddy's Clover Hunt
  On March 13th and 14th, compete in a fun scavenger style clover hunt around Fort Mason in San Francisco. Invite your partner, your children, or anyone in your bubble to find clovers and other items to win some fun St. Patrick's Day-themed prizes! Learn more and register here.

- St. Patrick's Day San Francisco Parade
  San Francisco will also be hosting its 170th St. Patrick's Day Parade virtually this year!

- S.F. Irish-American Crossroads Festival
  This annual literary, musical and cultural series invites all to participate in creative and relevant events celebrating Irish and Irish-American history and culture. Visit the Irish-American Crossroads site for more information about the scheduled events.

Sacramento

- Old Sacramento St. Patrick's Day Hunt
  Starting on March 13th and continuing until March 17th, the Old Sacramento Waterfront will be hosting a St. Patrick's Day hunt. The top three hunters will win an Xfinity prize package and be announced on March 18th. How do you participate? Check out oldsacramento.com/events for instructions!

- 2021 Shamrocks & Shenanigans Virtual 4 Mile Run/Walk
  Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with leprechaun costumes, traditional Irish food, and running! Complete each distance one at a time or complete all four miles. The virtual event starts March 1st and concludes on March 31st. Get lucky and register for the race here.

- Sacramento's Irish Pubs De Vere's and Snug To Go
