Amtrak San Joaquins is Connecting You to California – Safely

When Coronavirus (COVID-19) hit California, it hit our beloved train travel especially hard. Following severe travel restrictions along the Amtrak San Joaquins corridor, we were forced to reduce service to comply and account for a steep drop in ridership while maintaining appropriate social distancing aboard our trains for essential travel only.

Thankfully, with the disease appearing to ebb a bit and the curve flattening out, we expect to begin ramping up service once again. It should be noted that our top priority is always the health and safety of our employees and passengers. We have been following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state, and local public health officials to ensure the health and safety of our employees and the public – and we will continue to do so. Below are the new health and safety guidelines Amtrak San Joaquins has implemented throughout all our trains and stations to ensure a safe and healthy way to travel.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

We will ensure the continued health of our travelers and staff by requiring all visitors and passengers to practice social distancing inside stations, on the platforms, and aboard the trains and Thruway buses.

FACE COVERINGS

As an additional preventative measure, staff, travelers, and visitors will be required to wear facemasks while inside the stations, on the platforms, and aboard the trains and Thruway buses.

SERVICE REDUCTIONS & CHANGE FEES

Train Service: To comply with the order to only maintain essential service, we have suspended some trains. Visit https://amtraksanjoaquins.com/covid-19/ to see service changes. Due to the suspension of some trains, Thruway Buses are providing services for routes that have been canceled or suspended. If you’re looking to take a train that’s out of service, please look into the Thruway Bus.

WAIVING CHANGE FEES
We understand that travel plans have changed, which is why we are waiving change fees for reservations made before May 31, 2020. This includes reservations booked with points. To modify a reservation, you can log in to your account, go to ‘Modify Trip’ on Amtrak.com, or find your reservation from your account on the home screen in the Amtrak app. A fare difference may apply to your new itinerary if your new trip is more expensive than your old trip. If you want to cancel your reservation with no fee, please call 1-800-USA-RAIL to speak with an agent.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO TRAVELING WITH YOU ON OUR TRAINS ONCE AGAIN!
